Colorado Democratic Party Condemns Assassination Attempt on Trump, Criticizes Member’s Reaction
DENVER — In the aftermath of a distressing incident at a rally in Pennsylvania, where former President Donald Trump was shot in the ear, the Colorado Democratic Party has issued a strong condemnation of the assassination attempt. Shad Murib, the chair of the Colorado Democratic Party, voiced the party’s stance against the violent act and criticized inappropriate comments made by a party member.
State House Representative Steven Woodrow faced backlash for his controversial remarks on social media, referring to the public’s response to the shooting as “sympathy for the devil.” His comments, which were swiftly deleted, sparked a swift reaction from party leadership. Murib took to Twitter to express disapproval, sharing a screenshot of the now-deleted post and labeling it as “regrettable.”
Woodrow has since deleted all of his social media accounts.
In addition to condemning the assassination attempt, Murib also criticized Representative Lauren Boebert for her comments blaming President Biden for the incident, deeming them reckless and dangerous. The Colorado Democratic Party leader called for a de-escalation in political rhetoric, urging commitment to calming rather than dividing the political landscape.
