Lakewood, NJ – An Uber driver shared a Reddit post displaying an incentive offered by the company to take rides in Lakewood and neighboring towns, including Jackson, Toms River, and Howell. The company has not provided an explanation for the bonus, but speculation among drivers suggests it may be due to traffic conditions and frequent road safety hazards in Lakewood Township.
A Reddit user, brckinabox, commented, “I decline rides to and from Lakewood, it’s going to take a lot more than $1.50 to get me to go there!” Another user, beeatenbyagrue, added, “Gotta be more than that. I literally sat on Cedar Bridge yesterday for 45+ minutes to go less than a mile in traffic.”
